The Impact of Mental Health Issues

Many people with mental health issues donā€™t receive any professional help. 75% of people with diagnosable mental illness receive no treatment at all. Many issues often start in childhood or early adulthood and can have a huge impact on education, adult occupational roles, relationships and more. Therefore, it is essential to detect problems early on.

Those who experience poor mental health may face overwhelming difficulties. This can be made worse by low levels of support and societyā€™s view and acceptance. It is important to realise that people who do experience mental ill health can still live meaningful lives. This may mean that society will need to make some adjustments to accommodate those who suffer.

People experiencing poor mental health need the respect and assistance of friends, family and others around them. Mental Health First AidĀ® is just one of the interventions used to address and help prevent a crisis.

We are affiliated with MHFA EnglandĀ®.
