Why We Need Mental Health First Aid®

There are many reasons why you may need MHFA® training Westminster (Mental Health First Aid®). Mental health concerns are very common, and research shows that one in four people experience mental health issues over a year.

Furthermore, throughout a person’s life, it is likely that they will either develop mental ill health themselves or have close contact with someone who does. There are many negative attitudes towards those with mental ill health. This can lead to negative behaviour, such as hiding difficulties from others. As a result, a person may be reluctant to seek support.

Professional mental health support is not always on hand. When these sources are unavailable, members of the public can offer first aid. With MHFA® training, we provide you with a plan on how to help an individual in a mental health crisis.

Sanitas Hub are proud affiliates with MHFA England®.

The Impact of Mental Health Issues

Mental illness can be a large factor in long-term disability and issues often start in youth or early adulthood. This can impact a person’s education, occupation, key social relationships and more. Moreover, it can increase the likelihood of alcohol or drug misuse. Therefore, it is vital problems are detected early, so the person receives the appropriate treatment and support.

Those who experience mental health issues may face difficulties. This can be made worse by low levels of support and understanding in society. People experiencing mental health issues require the respect and assistance of friends, family members and colleagues.

At Sanitas Hub, our professional instructor, Christina James, delivers MHFA® training. With first-hand experience in mental health, she has worked with a wide range of clients across the UK and worldwide.

About Westminster

A central district in London, Westminster occupies a large area. Within the borough are some of the city’s most famous and historic areas. Join a tour of The Houses of Parliament, one of London’s four World Heritage sites, or spot Big Ben.

Head to Westminster Abbey, the resting place of over 3,000 Britons. A place of worship, celebration and ceremony, Westminster Abbey has hosted every royal coronation since 1066. Next to the Houses of Parliament is Victoria Tower Gardens, where the statue of Suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst stands.

Many of London’s top shops can be found in the Westminster borough. Shop at St James’s or explore West End shopping streets such as Oxford Street and Regent Street. Additionally, there are plenty of traditional pubs, restaurants, and low-key cafés to explore.
